In this post, I provide an overview of the contents of Chapter 6 in water control manuals.

Chapter 6 details hydrologic forecasts.

Pertinent information in this chapter includes:
  • The use of hydrologic forecasts by the Corps of Engineers
  • The responsibilities of other agencies such as the National Weather Service
  • The requirements and methods for flood conditions forecasts
  • The requirements and methods for conservation purpose forecasts
  • The requirements and methods for long range forecasts
Various figures are included in the development of Chapter 6 of the water control manual such as unit hydrographs.  A portion of such a figure is shown below.
