Available Time Steps in HEC-ResSim

The available time steps in HEC-ResSim can be found in the Alternative Editor.  The figure below shows a 1-hour time step specified.

The available time steps are as follows:

• 5 minutes
• 10 minutes
• 15 minutes
• 30 minutes
• 1 hour
• 2 hours
• 3 hours
• 4 hours
• 6 hours
• 12 hours
• 1 day

I recently received a question regarding the specification of a monthly time step in the Configuration Editor.  I asked HEC about this specification.  The 1-month interval in the Configuration Editor is a leftover from when the Watershed Configuration was a shared module with other applications.  This is no longer the case.  The specification of a time step in the Configuration Editor is not used by ResSim.  The time step that is used is the one specified in the Alternative Editor.  HEC has indicated that adding a monthly time step is not in the future plans for the next 2 to 5 years.

The time step menu in the Configuration Editor is shown in the figure below.
