Chapter 1 of Water Control Manuals

In an earlier post, I provided an overview of the Corps of Engineers guidance used in reservoir operations and in the development of water control manuals.

Overview of Water Control Manual Guidance

In this post, I provide an overview of the contents of Chapter 1 in water control manuals.

Chapter 1 serves as an introductory chapter for the manual.

Pertinent information in this chapter includes:
  • Manuals and reports of other projects that may affect the operation of the project
  • Identification of the project owner and agency or agencies responsible for its operation
  • List of pertinent reports and design memoranda for the project
This chapter includes the references to Corps documents that guide the development of water control manuals.  Additionally, the agency responsible for operational duties at the project is listed as well as the agency responsible for the regulatory issues associated with the project.

The recommended sections in Chapter 1 are as follows:

1-01  Authorization for Manual
1-02  Purpose and Scope
1-03  Related Manuals and Reports
